FHS Holzbau - The decisive advantage
Like FHS Treppen, FHS Holzbau sees itself as a "partner of the trade" and has a lot in common with SIGA. FHS and SIGA are both family businesses that like to have development, production and sales in their own hands.
FHS has 140 employees, 120 of whom work in stair construction and 15 in design. Stairs of all kinds are made of wood, metal and glass. Since 2018, FHS has had a cross-laminated timber plant, meanwhile with all machines in duplicate. The company produces 10,000 cubic metres a year in one shift. Only last year, they built their own sawmill and drying chambers to be independent of the sawn timber market.
A cable duct in cross laminated timber? No problem for FHS Holzbau in Grassau, Germany. White fir, larch, maple, American walnut - any surface, any look is possible. FHS Holzbau specialises in exclusive wood surfaces; and what is noble and beautiful must be well protected. And this is exactly where Wetguard from our company comes into play.
Stumbled upon SIGA
Max Frisch is the managing director of FHS. He likes to programme the machine controls for his company himself and loves his job. He explains how the cooperation with SIGA came about: "For an industrial building, the customer wanted weathering for four to six weeks. He couldn't manage to put the roof on straight away, but didn't want to work with plastic sheeting and tarpaulins. We solved the customer's problem."
For this, our SIGA employees were in the right place at the right time. "Two gentlemen from SIGA came by and showed us Wetguard. I was there, observed it and was surprised at how quickly the product could be applied," says Frisch. "As a CLT manufacturer, we think it's a good product and we're convinced it will benefit the customer. What we have done now has worked flawlessly. We will definitely use Wetguard again. We include the product in our very normal price list and offer it as standard."
Just the beginning
The cooperation between FHS Holzbau and SIGA has only just begun with the new Wetguard product, but with the many similarities between the two companies, nothing stands in the way of a long-term partnership.
