Commitment by and for scouts

The scouts from tribe Barracuda need help and turn to SIGA to repair their scout home. SIGA employee Matthias Brettner does not hesitate and is immediately on the spot with the required material.

It all started with Corona. The scout house of the scouts of the Barrakuda tribe from Vaterstetten was no longer used because the pandemic no longer allowed group sessions with the kids.

A burglary with consequences

The house was empty, no one was in charge of it and finally there was a break-in. Everything was full of oil. The roof was also damaged from the break-in. Inside, everything was full of mouse droppings. The scout leaders have to see what damage is covered by the insurance.

Scouts are doers

Some of the older scouts have just finished school and have time enough because they have nowhere to go due to the ongoing pandemic. Bad enough. But scouts don't despair. So they say to themselves, "We'll give something back to the tribe and tackle it ourselves, we have the time and the skills."

The house consists of one half with one high room and one half with two floors. One of the leaders is currently training to be a carpenter, another is already finished with his carpentry training. The two of them plan the repair of the roof and soon realise that the budget was getting tighter.

They remember the 45th anniversary of the scout troop in 2018, when asked people to donate them benches and drinks for the festival. That's when they got the idea to contact SIGA via Instagram.

Help on the way

The answer is not long in coming. Soon two SIGA employees are on site and hand over vapour barrier and adhesive tapes worth 500 euros to the young scouts - without an invoice, of course. A rare exception, for a good cause. Thus, the renovation could be carried out, the scout house could be repaired within a useful period of time and protected against moisture in the roof.

So much proactive commitment is rewarded. The scout house is tight again, the roof looks like new and the scouts of the Barrakuda Vaterstetten tribe can use their house again. A happy ending thanks to great commitment.
