SIGA as a practical example of lean management and Scrum
Fourteen people from Bern University of Applied Sciences visited SIGA to cultivate the long-standing and very friendly relationship. The focus was on the presentation of the practical implementation of Lean Management and Scrum methodology.
For SIGA, this is always a good opportunity to present itself to prospective wood technicians as an attractive employer for internships or career entry. For example, two people from SIGA were present who had made just such a visit to SIGA with the BFH in the past and are now doing an internship and a stage at the company.
SIGA is exemplary in terms of consistency and efficiency.
Prof. Bernhard Letsch is a lecturer in Lean Production and Process Management at the Bern University of Applied Sciences. What he teaches the students in theory in class is looked at in a practical week at Swiss companies. SIGA was allowed to make the start of this practical week.
"With the students, we go to the most important key players on the market. SIGA is simply a reference for me. This company is exemplary in terms of consistency and efficiency," says Bernhard Letsch. And he continues: "You can see the fire in the eyes of the employees."
This is the fourth time Bernhard Letsch has visited SIGA with students to look at the SIGA Management System and Scrum as a practical example. The SIGA Management System, which was derived from the Toyota Production System, is a subject taught at the Bern University of Applied Sciences.
Oliver Pablo Dubs is the owner of the start-up "Schreinerkollektiv" in Oerlikon and a student at BFH. He says about the day at SIGA: "It's exciting to see that the methods are handled so strictly. It's in the DNA of the company."
And Josias Haas, who is doing a bachelor's degree in wood technology with a specialisation in process and production management, thinks: "It's impressive how consistently everything is implemented. Especially not only in production, where you tend to expect it, but also in everyday office life."
