Traineeship: The Brits Make My Life Suite

I’m beginning to become more robust and used to dealing with the British “sunshine”; which is essentially heavy rain, ice-cold wind, and low temperature.

If I were to narrate other struggles, I’d probably mention that daylight vanishes at about 4 PM, the threat of the coronavirus seems unprecedented, and tube strikes have become the normality. Though, everyone has their struggles, right? That’s why I’d rather focus on the good by bringing you closer to two delightful stories of mine.

Cheap Parking

The timing couldn’t have been any worse. I’m yet uncertain if it was the mood of this merciless police officer or his commitment to pursuing the duty when issuing me a £150 parking charge!

On an early Monday morning, I was sitting in my living room while I noticed a person in uniform starring at the number plate of my car. Little did I know at that time that I’d misspelled a letter when I’d paid for parking, well, it was too late anyway… Needless to say, the police officer couldn’t care less about my clumsiness, signed the parking ticket, and left a dent in my pocket.

The Salisbury

Other than embarrassing myself with stories such as the one above, I’ve had luck too, yeeiiih! As Trainee Sales, occasional overnight stays in hotels aren’t unlikely. And believe me, it’s an illusion if you imagined this wonderful hotel experience where you have five-course dinners, gym and spa access, a piece of chocolate on your pillow, to name a few – no, you’re not on holiday. The reality oftentimes proves the opposite, especially after a long, hard-working day you want nothing else but a good-night sleep in your bed. Anyway, I’ve recently been upgraded to either a family suite or luxury suite on three different occasions! How lucky am I? Once, I even got a family suite with six beds, even though I could only sleep in one at a time. That made my stay special!

Hopefully, you’ve had some fun reading this post and can relate to the one or another experience. Living abroad is never dull but can be demanding and tiring. If you ever wondered how I stay positive and motivated no matter what situations I’m facing, that’s my secret I’m happy to share with you:

Smiling is contagious, be a carrier.”
