What is SIGArthon?

The term «SIGArthon» combines «SIGA», «Art», and «Hackathon». Known in the IT industry, a Hackathon is an event where participants intensely work on creative projects, similar to a marathon. Our SIGArthon adapts this concept to the realms of design and innovation: We aim to bring creative and disruptive ideas from outside into SIGA.

Premiere with secret Project 656

The event took place at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Computer Science, attracting many students, especially from design and art fields. The active participation confirmed the value of hosting such events where the greatest interest is anticipated.

The first SIGArthon aimed to develop a new design for the secretive Project 656 of our Customer Experience team. It was probably the first design Hackathon of its kind! Participants showed remarkable zeal and initiative over 24 hours. Many, who initially knew little about SIGA, were enthused by our company by the end.

Participants developed creative design ideas and worked intensively, making the selection of winners challenging for the jury. The best elements of all different designs will now be further developed and integrated for Project 656.

Besides generating unconventional ideas, SIGArthon aims to improve source management and deepen collaboration with universities. Following the success of the first SIGArthon, we plan to repeat this format annually. We believe future events will be equally successful!

The first SIGArthon demonstrated how creative thinking and collaboration can lead to innovative outcomes. We look forward to further developments and the exciting ideas emerging from future SIGArthons!
